ENJOY FOUR INTERESTING FREE NIGHTS OUT WITH BRIGG GROUP

A varied programme of forthcoming events
has been lined up by Brigg Amateur Social Historians.
The BASH group has announced its monthly talks for the early months of 2020.
They will be held at Brigg & District Servicemen's Club, Coney Court, starting at 8pm, with FREE admission and no requirement to book in advance. Just turn up on the night - light refreshments will be served and a raffle held to help with costs.

TUESDAY FEBRUARY 4TH: "LINCOLNSHIRE HISTORICAL PLANTS AND THEIR USES" - AN ILLUSTRATED TALK BY LORETTA RIVETT. An interesting talk about plants and not only their looks or taste but historically their uses for clothes, paper, ink, furniture, rope and dyes etc.
TUESDAY MARCH 3RD: "A TALE OF TWO LANCASTERS" -  AN ILLUSTRATED TALK BY MIKE CHATTERTON. The speaker talks of his memories of his time flying the BBMF Lancaster "The City of Lincoln" and also his father's time as a Lancaster pilot in World War Two.
TUESDAY APRIL 7TH:  "THE FIRST REALITY SHOW" -  AN ILLUSTRATED TALK BY ROD FANTHORPE. The story of John Champion Faunthorpe, Olympic Competitor, Big Game Hunter, Raj Administrator and Army Officer who facilitated the classic film "The Battle of the Somme" - a cinema hit and later a TV show.
TUESDAY MAY 5TH:  "INTO THE BLUE SKIES" - AN ILLUSTATED TALK BY JOSIE WEBB.  A true story of  "Friday 13th", a World War Two Bomber and its crew. The rear gunner was local man from Brigg, Ken Cammack. She was a lucky plane despite her name and completed 128 ops over enemy Europe; she survived the war unscathed and was scrapped afterwards but rose like a "Phoenix from the Ashes" in a rebuild for a new home at The Yorkshire Air Museum at Elvington, near York.
