BRIGG SUPPORT FOR CMD - FROM DIAGNOSIS TO CURE
Brigg Freemasons tell us they are proud to support the work of local resident Emma-Jayne Ashley and her volunteers who raise funds for research into finding a cure for Congenital Myotonic Dystrophy, as well as providing support for those affected by the condition.
A £500 donation was presented at the Brigg Christmas Fair.
They explain: "Congenital Myotonic Dystrophy is a genetic condition which presents itself in early childhood. It is a multi-systemic Neuromuscular disorder, under the umbrella of ‘Muscular Dystrophy’.
"Myotonic Dystrophy is hereditary, and if a child is born with CDM, one of the parents WILL have it. This is quite a daunting realisation, and if there is no prior knowledge if the disorder in the family, it can be a scary thing to come to terms with."
Further information about CDM and the Fight Fund can be found here...
