NEWS ROUND-UP FROM BRIGG BARS: ONE PUB COULD BE GETTING A NEW OWNER
A Brigg pub could have a new owner in the near future as Admiral Taverns is looking to acquire 137 pubs nationwide from Marston's.
The only North Lincolnshire hostelry on the list is our own Britannia Inn, on Wrawby Street.
Admiral Taverns describes itself as the UK's number one community pub group and said recently that it had reached agreement to acquire a portfolio of 137 hostelries from Marston's PLC.
Last Saturday (November 9) saw an addition to the number of 'League' football clubs whose spectators visit Brigg on their way to away games. West Bromwich Albion fans were he latest to pay out town centre a call as the broke their coach journeys from the Midlands to Hull. Some of them selected Wetherspoon's White Horse.
The Lord Nelson, in the Market Place, has introduced a new start time, 8.30pm, for its general knowledge and trivia quiz held every Tuesday. Everyone's welcome and there's a gallon of beer for the winners. Turn up any Tuesday night to take part.
The Nelson has booked singer Eddie Soulfinger for Christmas Eve (Tuesday, December 24). Eddie performs ska, reggae, soul and Motown hits.
Barton-based singer Kelly Wilson has been signed to perform at the Black Bull, Wrawby Street, on Friday, November 29 - the evening of Brigg's Christmas lights switch-on, festive fair and late night shopping event. Kelly sings hits from the 1960s through to the present day, including ones made famous by Cher, Tina Turner, Bon Jovi, Blondie and Belinda Carlisle.
Tonight (Friday, November 15) a restaurant in Brigg town centre will be the venue for a major ticket-only fundraiser in aid of two charities.
One Night with Elvis - at the licensed Mumbai Lounge, Old Courts Road - will take place from 7pm and feature Steve Caprice performing his tribute to the King of Rock and Roll.
Tickets cost £30 which the organisers stress includes a sumptuous Indian buffet meal in addition to the musical entertainment.
Proceeds will be divided between the Brigg Prostate Cancer Fundraising Group and Macmillan Cancer Support.

And finally, a reminder that tomorrow (Saturday 16th) Brigg footballer Chris Rodgers will be having his hair cut off at Sarah’s Retreat, 3 Morley Yard, at 9.30am. His flowing locks will then be donated to the Little Princess Trust which make wigs for children who have lost theirs due to cancer treatment and other conditions.
