RAISING A GLASS TO AN ENJOYABLE DAY TRIP FROM BRIGG

Here's an annual event that Brigg real ale fans will want to note.
The Grimsby & North East Lincolnshire CAMRA branch will be holding its 2019 beer festival from Thursday to Saturday, November 14 to 16.
Real ale devotees from Brigg can take a train from our town's railway station on Saturday the 16th and come back later in the day.
Opening hours are noon to 11pm at the Matrix Bar, Bethlehem Street, Grimsby, which is very close to the railway station and next door to Wetherspoon's Yarborough Hotel.
Admission to the festival is FREE and there will be 24 beers and ciders on tap.
We suggest taking the 1.20pm Saturday train from Brigg station, arriving in Grimsby at 1.53pm.
Those wanting to make a day of it - perhaps visiting Wetherspoon's before the festival opens - can use the 9.20am Northern company service from Brigg.
Return trains, also operated by Northern, leave Grimsby Town station at 3.18pm and 7.24pm.
Campaigners continue to support greater use of the Brigg line's passenger service on Saturdays, and November's beer festival in Grimsby should help to boost numbers.
