IS A NEW BRIGG MINI-ROUNDABOUT CALLED FOR?
Are we nearing the 'criteria' required for a new mini-roundabout to be installed in Brigg?
More and more traffic seems to be using the A1084 which means hold-ups for drivers trying to get onto Bigby Road from St Helen's Road at certain times.
Traffic slowing down because of a mini-roundabout would also make it easier for pedestrians to cross this A-road near the top of St Helen's Road.
Highway authorities across the UK must have agreed criteria allied to the volume of traffic and waiting times experienced.
Scunthorpe has seen many mini-roundabouts installed in past decades - some of them on suburban streets rather than important and busy A-roads.
We wonder whether someone in authority thinks it's worth asking council traffic experts to take a look at the A1084.
When heading into the town centre, Brigg Blog does not like to cross Bigby Road at the officially provided spot - the traffic island close by the Monument roundabout. And we aren't the only ones!
It is difficult to see cars and lorries approaching from Wrawby Street because the tall landmark obscures your view.
Meanwhile, traffic approaching along Wrawby Road to turn left into Bigby Road is BEHIND you.
Crossing from the other side of Bigby Road, near the garade showroom, is less of a problem, although pedestrians still need to be wary of vehicles that are about to turn left off Wrawby Road.
then with your argument kings road would need one too. what about traffic coming out of princes st & albert st even st james close ? what about roads other side of the crossings westrum lane, pingley lane, the copse & the willow brook drive estate it's not as though it's your only road out suggest Glanford road kings road or even Churchill avenue or avid those "certain times" by leaving early or latter.
ReplyDeleteNorth Lincolnshire Council highways department said it would take them 10 years to put signage on the roundabout to direct people to the railway station.
ReplyDeleteUsing this formula I expect you to get a roundabout within the next 50 years then.
