CURRY WEEK IN BRIGG
This is National Curry Week - and the fiery food is very popular in Brigg.
It must be - our small town boasts three sit-down restaurants and a specialist takeaway!
Brigg town centre has Le Raj, Bengal Spice and the Mumbai Lounge, plus the Diya Spice takeaway.
The Diya Spice serves a particular favourite of ours, Murgh Chadni (chicken with slices of pepper in a spicy sauce).
It's rated medium to hot and the name is easy to remember as it rhymes with Cadney, the local village.
Many of us decades ago were introduced to curry through shop-bought Vesta brand meals that came in a packet.
We think the first we sampled was purchased from Melia's shop in the Market Place.
The organisers of curry week say: "Join us in 2019 for the 21st annual National Curry Week celebrations!"

We note that the Mumbai Lounge will be open on Christmas Day, from 12.30pm to 5pm.
A special banquet is to be served at £30 a head (£17 for children under 12).
You need to book in advance by calling at the premises on Old Courts Road or phoning 01652 600800.
Note that Brigg's sit-down curry restaurants also offer takeaways.
