BRIGG PUB & BARS ROUND-UP: PARACHUTE PAYMENTS AS LANDLADY SKYDIVES FOR CHARITY
It proved to be a very busy night for general manager Eugene Irwin and staff at the Dying Gladiator pub in Brigg on Saturday (October 19).
That's demonstrated by this picture we took late on in the beer garden at the side of the premises.
Eugene (at the back) stopped off in the middle of his rounds to join this happy group.
Manager Rebecca Donner's self-contained Stables Bar at The Glad will become increasingly well-used as the weather turns colder.
It was a bit on the 'parky' side last Saturday night but warming whisky does help combat chilly conditions as well as raising the spirits!
Saturday evening saw Brigg Blog start out at the Britannia Inn, later visiting the Yarborough Hunt, the Black Bull and the Gladiator in that order.
The Brit was completing its first week since re-introducing midweek meals. The chunky chips are proving popular and we are assured they're home-made.
A rendition of The Clash's 1979 hit I Fought The Law and the Law Won was being performed as we left, but we didn't see any police about in the town centre on Saturday night. Nor were any Clashes observed between folk out and about in the town centre!
Sarah Hardy, pictured above - landlady of the Woolpack in the Market Place - undertook a parachute jump for charity.
She reached for the sky at Hibaldstow airfield for her tandem jump in aid of The Candlelighters - "together we can fight children's cancer."
We made a donation by way of a parachute payment through the collecting tin on the bar, and she also sought sponsorship via an online facility.
Sarah's jump was postponed on the original date early this month due to adverse weather conditions, but she had better luck on the re-arranged date.
Online, Sarah shared her Certificate of Completion from Skydive Hibaldstow and many people posted comments about this achievement for a worthy cause.
Now let's look ahead to events coming up this Saturday (October 26)...
