BRIGG TOWN CRICKETERS TO FINISH THE SEASON AT ONE OF LINCOLNSHIRE'S TOP GROUNDS
Brigg Town Cricket Club will complete the 2019 season this weekend and get a very rare chance to play on one of Lincolnshire's top and most historic grounds.
Brigg will journey down the A15 to Lincoln to play Lindum 3rds on Saturday (September 14) on a superb ground which has been used since the early 19th century and where Lincolnshire's Minor Counties team has staged many matches down the decades.
Lindum 3rds normally use another ground in Lincoln but with the Lindum not required by the club's other teams tomorrow, the 3rds will be using the No 1 venue to host Brigg in Lincolnshire County Cricket League Division Three.
If Brigg can secure a really emphatic win tomorrow, they have a chance of overtaking Lindum 3rds and securing third place in the table. However, even if they lose, the Lincoln team only requires a couple of bonus points to finish above Brigg.
The Lindum ground is pictured above; It has a very well-appointed licensed clubhouse, part of which can be seen on the left.
Hibaldstow's Sunday side ended the 2019 North Lindsey League Division Two season at the weekend. However, Appleby-Frodingham beat them by 32 runs at Brumby Hall, Scunthorpe.
For Frodingham, overseas player X Du Plooy made 63 and Zac Chaudhary 56 (his maiden half-century) in their 188 for 7, stalwart Paul Mitchell picking up 4 for 27.
Hibaldstow got off to a flyer, reaching 38 for no wicket from just two overs, only to be pegged back to 156 for 8, Lee Robinson scoring 35 and Jerry Thomas 31.
The villagers finished the season in second from bottom spot with nine points from 10 fixtures - three wins, six defeats and one 'no result'.
