HAT-TRICK HERO HELPS BRIGG TOWN TO VICTORY

Impressive bowling resulted in an unlikely home win for Brigg Town Cricket Club at the Recreation Ground on Saturday (July 20). And there was a hat-trick hero in the Brigg ranks.
Brigg batted poorly at the Recreation Ground and were dismissed for only 90 runs by Messingham 2nds.
Such a score is seldom sufficient to win a game in Lincolnshire County Cricket League Division Three.
However, Brigg opening bowlers Nick Beacock (pictured above) and Tom Brock (below) rolled up their sleeves and got to work after tea to skittle the visitors for just 68.

With Messingham making a reasonable start, left-armer seamer Nick took three wickets with successive deliveries to turn the game on its head. He went on to finish with six for 44, while Tom managed four for 23.
After some poor results of late, Brigg gained 20 much-needed points and climbed from the lower half of the table to fourth spot.
This division is very close at the moment with only 23 points dividing Haxey 2nds (third) and Lindum 3rds (third from bottom).
Result: Brigg Town (20 pts) beat Messingham 2nds (5 pts) by 22 runs.
Division Three leaders Broughton 2nds suffered only their second league defeat of the season, going down by 71 runs when hosting Haxey 2nds on Saturday.
Broughton failed to gain any bowling bonus points and managed only two for batting.
Haxey posted 221 for one in their 45 overs, then dismissed Broughton for 150 - Paul Clark top scoring with 41.
In Division One, Broughton first teamers suffered a four-wicket defeat in Scunthorpe against leaders Appleby-Frodingham 2nds. Broughton as a team were short of runs, although Nick Dobbs managed 40 and Sean Clixby 30 not out in their all-out 131.
Broughton are fourth from bottom in the standings after 10 fixtures.
Division Two leaders Hibaldstow took 11 points from a rain-affected, incomplete game away to second-placed Clee Town Laportes who managed nine.
Conditions were literally Taylor-made for the Hibaldstow bowlers - Joe Taylor taking four wickets, Jon Taylor three and Tom Taylor two.
Chasing Laportes' all-out 140, Hibaldstow fell just short on 134 for six when time ran out, Joe Taylor ending 49 not out.
