NEW 40 MPH & 50 MPH SPEED LIMITS NEAR BRIGG ON THE WAY
A council scheme aimed at reducing two speed limits near Brigg are nearing completion.
Lincolnshire County Council is now consulting members of the public about proposals for the A1084 between Brigg and Caistor.
It has set a June 26 deadline for any objections to be made.
The council wants to introduce a lower 40 mph limit on Bigby High Road near the Brigg and North Lincolnshire border eastwards beyond Brigg Garden Centre, plus a new continuous 50 mph limit (rather than 60 mph) from Kettleby to Caistor.
These measures are planned on road safety grounds and are set to be included in an official legal Order to bring it to fruition unless someone mounts a valid challenge.
In its Statement of Reasons for introducing these 40 mph and 50 mph restrictions, Lincolnshire County Council says it is working "in partnership with North Lincolnshire."
The Government has made money available to councils from its Safer Roads Fund and the A1084 between Caistor and Brigg was one of four submitted.
Brigg Blog first reported on the early stages of this scheme last November.
We are pleased to see that some public notices are now being displayed in Brigg, setting out what's proposed, because many motorists from the town use the A1084.
The issue still remains that some sort of crossing is needed near the garden centre to cross from one footpath to the other footpath.
ReplyDeleteWhy not make it 30 all the way to Caister 'on road safety grounds'??
