BRIGG AREA PLANNING: NINE NEW HOMES REFUSED, ONE APPROVED
The popularity of the Brigg area as a place to live continues to be reflected in the number of schemes drawn up to built additional dwellings. These require local authority approval.
North Lincolnshire Council has granted outline planning permission for the erection of a chalet bungalow with revised shared access and a detached double garage on land adjacent to 187 Scawby Road, Scawby Brook, near Brigg.
A report prepared by council staff said: "The scale and design of the dwelling is reserved for subsequent approval, but the submitted details suggest that a chalet-style property will be built, which would be in keeping with surrounding properties, some of which are single storey. Existing conifer hedging on the boundaries is to be replaced with native hedging, which is considered to be more in keeping."
However, West Lindsey District Council has refused to grant an outline application for up to nine dwellings on land adjacent to Sheepcote Hill Farm, on South Street, North Kelsey.
The council did not consider the proposed development to be within an appropriate location "as it will not retain the core shape and form of the settlement and will extend the built footprint of North Kelsey into the open countryside."
Anyone refused planning permission by a local authority may, if they wish, lodge an appeal against the decision.
