BRIGG TOWN CRICKETERS PUT TO THE S-WARD BY RAMPANT ROBBIE!

Brigg Town Cricket Club - promoted to Division Three of the Lincolnshire County Cricket League - began the 2019 season in wonderfully warm weather yesterday (Saturday, April 20).
But the heat was on in their derby game at Broughton 2nds who inflicted a five-wicket defeat on the visitors.
Town were bowled out for 146 with three balls to go in their permitted 45 overs. Experienced opener Jack Richards made 33, Nigel Beacock 27, David Baggott 26 and Mark Cawkwell 20.
Broughton clinched victory in the 29th over, star man Robbie Ward hitting 55 from only 29 deliveries. Earlier, the all-rounder had taken four for 39 in 15 overs. So he put Brigg to the S-Ward!
Among rampant Robbie's victims was Brigg's Matthew Bell who made five runs before being bowled. Last season, Matthew averaged 125 an innings with the bat in division four.

Brigg suffered an early loss at the start of last season but went on to sweep all before them.  So fingers crossed for a repeat in 2019.
Elsewhere in the Lincolnshire League (sponsored by Readers) yesterday,  Hibaldstow recorded a fine win on their visit to Grimsby Town 2nds in Division Two.
Tom Taylor made 53 of Hibaldstow's  all-out 129 and then bagged three wickets for 33 as Grimsby were dismissed for 91, with Joe Taylor grabbing five for 36.
