BRIGG TOWN CENTRE BUILDING EARMARKED FOR FLATS COULD GET NEW LOOK
A building in Brigg town centre could get a new look if it is changed to flats.
Planning permission is being sought to convert former offices within the conservation area at 40 Bigby Street into two residential flats, including replacement windows and doors and rendering.
Consulted as part of the planning process, Brigg Town Council's Planning & Environment Committee decided it was "in support" of the application.
Chairman Coun Mike Storey told colleagues, meeting in the Angel Suite, that the applicant was considering painting the building white - in keeping with nearby properties.
Coun Storey added that additional flats "will mean more people living in Brigg."
North Lincolnshire Council planners will now decide whether to grant permission.
A statement submitted to the council with the planning application said an option would be to render the exterior of the building and paint the exterior off white.
"This would, in turn, correspond with the neighbour’s property and street scene," the statement added.
Previous uses of 40 Bigby Street have been an accountant's office and MP Andrew Percy's base in Brigg. He has since moved to Morley Yard.
