BRIGG GRAMMAR SCHOOL BOYS PROVED TO BE SUCCESSFUL SUNDAY LEAGUE FOOTBALLERS

Ancholme Wanderers Football Club at Brigg Recreation Ground in the 1970s - including a number of Brigg Grammar School pupils

Seen here at Brigg Recreation Ground is one of our town's most successful Sunday football teams of the 20th century.
The picture dates from the early or mid-1970s and shows Ancholme Wanderers - a club based at the Ancholme Inn, on Grammar School Road.
A number of the players attended Brigg Grammar School, including Kiron Brown and Melvin Parker (back row, second and third from left); Don Ashworth, Terry Shaw and Peter Wainwright - lined up together to the right of the front row.
Current Barnetby United manager Lee Fielden, who takes a keen interest in local football history, has kindly furnished Brigg Blog with the picture.
We are confident it will create plenty of interest online in the days ahead.
We think we've also spotted Mick Stothard, John Brader, Jeff Hutson and Johnny Lidgett.

Maybe someone can manage a complete left to right of all the players.
Today being Sunday seems an ideal time to share Lee's "find" with Brigg Blog followers.
