PLAN TO FELL LARGE TREE IN BRIGG TOWN CENTRE
Permission is being sought to fell a tall, mature tree in Brigg town centre.
It is located within the Conservation Area.
Demeter House School, on Bigby Street, has submitted an application to North Lincolnshire Council which is now under consideration.
In a statement sent to planners, the school says it wants to fell and remove the large leyland cypress tree, which is five metres from its main building. It says the tree has been identified as a fire hazard.
"The tree is approximately 18 metres tall and to maintain it to comply with fire regulations is not economically viable," the statement says. "We would like to replace the tree."
The school has given notice of intention to fell the leyland cypress.
There is no Tree Preservation Order in place.
