£1,600 PRESENTATION TO CHARITY IN BRIGG OVER CHRISTMAS
The annual Briggensians football match played at Brigg Town FC's Hawthorns ground over the Christmas period saw a cheque for £1,600 presented to the British Heart Foundation.
The money had been raised during May's Adrian Gibbons memorial match at The Hawthorns - 'Gib' having been a very well-known Sir John Nelthorpe School teacher and renowned local sportsman.
Brian Taylor MBE received the cheque on behalf of the foundation (see pictures).
At the Christmas football match a collection was held among the players which raised more than £200 for the Lindsey Lodge Hospice.
Organiser Jon Taylor told Brigg Blog: "The game itself saw the Over 27s take on those over that age, ranging from 28 to over 60 (Colin Mumby)."
The match ended 2-2 and was followed by the usual Briggensians winter sports reunion pub games - pool, darts, dominoes - plus a quiz.
"Experience was invaluable in the end and the old boys won overall," Jon adds.
"There was a great deal of festive cheer and I hope everyone is keen to play in the third Adrian Gibbons memorial game in May."
