BRIGG TOPIC OF CONCERN RAISED WITH THE POLICE AND CRIME COMMISSIONER
An issue of concern to many people who shop in Brigg town centre was flagged up to Humberside's Police & Crime Commissioner, Keith Hunter, when he attended the Town Council's latest meeting.
Coun Chris Dyson raised the long-standing problem of vehicles being driven through the pedestrian area and cycles being ridden at speed
Expressing real concerns about the safety of pedestrians, Coun Dyson told the Commissioner that this issue within the pedestrian area was very irritating for people in Brigg.
Mr Hunter replied that local priorities and "big issues for you" should go to the Neighbourhood Action Team (NAT).
Coun Rob Waltham said the pedestrian area was being looked at, and he also asked Mr Hunter about progress on introducing Community Speed Watch.
This sees volunteers using cameras to record speeding motorists, working alongside local community policing teams.
Coun Waltham, the Leader of North Lincolnshire Council, said they had volunteers willing to do this.
Mr Hunter said Community Speed Watch was important and a pilot scheme had been held.
He now wanted to create a civilian post to run it, and hoped the North Lincolnshire and East Riding Councils would be supportive.
