BRIGG BAR BEGINS THE CHRISTMAS PERIOD ON A HIGH NOTE

Brigg bars will be very busy tonight - Christmas Eve 2018 - as people head out to celebrate the festive season.
There's live music on offer at The Exchange, where singer Chloe White will be appearing, and at the Servicemen's Club, where the well-known Gray will be performing a range of popular songs.
Monday nights are not normally very busy ones for town centre pubs, but this evening will be an obvious exception!
Some people got into the Christmas spirit early on Saturday night (December 22). At the Stables Bar, adjoining Bigby Street's Dying Gladiator, some members of local band The Dirty Pitchers dropped in for the festive music session.
It concluded with a welcome surprise - young Elliott (pictured) taking to the piano to lead communal singing of The Pogues' Christmas favourite Fairytale of New York.
This tune was played time after time over the festive period on the jukebox at the town's Nelthorpe Arms, on Bridge Street.
That venue having closed in spring 2018, the young pianist's rendition helped to keep this tradition going for another year.
Among those to join in the singing around the piano was Rebecca Donner, manager of The Glad and Stables Bar, who was the Nelthorpe's last landlady.
