BARNETBY UNITED FOOTBALLERS SECURE THREE WELCOME POINTS

A brace from Brendan O’Callaghan - backed up by goals from Dan Greaves and Harry Finnis - saw the Railwaymen pick up three vital points with a 4-1 home win over Crosby Colts.
United opened by far the better and had struck the bar through O’Callaghan and seen two glorious chances spurned by Blendell and Finnis inside the opening 15 minutes.
It wasn’t until the 40th minute that they took the lead when O’Callaghan made no mistake from the spot following a foul on Jack Blendell.
Moments later it was 2-0 as Greaves arrived late in the box to sweep home his first of the season.
What looked a safe lead lasted 3 minutes into the 2nd half as Crosby hit back with Jarvis’s strike from the edge of the box wrong footing keeper Minshall.
With the wind at Crosby’s back they forced the game but on 67 minutes a free kick from Greaves was glanced in by Harry Finnis and the 2 goal lead was restored.
With two minutes remaining O’Callaghan was sent through in the inside left channel and he finished in style with his left foot to seal a much-needed win.
Match played in the EC Surfacing Scunthorpe & District League division one on Saturday, December 15, 2018.
