TOP ALL-ROUND PERFORMANCE FROM BRIGG TOWN

A superb and potentially trophy-winning performance by one of the  team's all-rounders helped Brigg Town Cricket Club secure another convincing home win at the Recreation Ground yesterday (Saturday, August 11, 2018).
That top individual display for the the Lincolnshire County Cricket League division four leaders came from Liam Redmond, who followed up an unbeaten century by grabbing four wickets for three runs after tea.
Liam's undefeated 129 against Horncastle included 15 fours and four sixes.
Also in the runs yet again was Matthew Bell, who hit nine boundaries in his 60.
Brigg posted a daunting 241 for nine in their permitted 45 overs before dismissing the visitors for 73.
Opening seam bowlers Tom Brock and Nick Beacock claimed four for 35 and  two for 26 respectively before  spinner Liam came on first change to grab his four for three in only six overs.
The Lincolnshire League awards an annual trophy for the best all-round performance in a match in any division and Liam will be in the running for that honour for the 2018 season.
A decision will be made at a future league meeting when the most impressive all-round displays will be considered and a vote taken.
The trophy will be awarded at the league's showpiece dinner, to be held at Hemswell Court next spring.
Result: Brigg Town (20 pts) beat Horncastle (4 pts) by 168 runs.
Umpire: Lee Stothard.
