NEW HIGH DEFINITION C.C.T.V CAMERAS INSTALLED IN BRIGG
North Lincolnshire Council has revealed that new high definition CCTV cameras have been installed in Brigg.
CCTV cameras monitor streets, and footage may prove useful in the event of crimes taking place.
The council was replying to a comment sent to Brigg Blog by a local resident.
Ken Harrison said recently an expensive bike was stolen, lead was removed from premises in College Yard and a car was driven at very fast speed through the Market Place and down Wrawby Street.
"We have an expensive, state of the art CCTV system that covers the town," he said, "but is it a white elephant on an ivory tower?
"Please prove me wrong and demonstrate that the system actually does something.
"I'll be chuffed to bits if the CCTV system comes up trumps...but from past evidence, I don't hold much hope!"
A North Lincolnshire Council spokesperson said: “There are nine cameras located in Brigg plus a further three in the grounds to Ancholme Leisure Centre. All but one are working and this one is due to be replaced. The cameras are monitored and any requests to see or check the footage are dealt with promptly.
"In addition, the council has recently invested in the upgrading of the CCTV system in Brigg. It has recently installed three new and state of the art 'High Definition' cameras in Brigg town centre which replaced the older analogue cameras.
"These cameras have substantially improved the image quality of our CCTV recordings in their respective areas.
“We have checked our records over the last two months and the council has not received any reports of a stolen bike.”
