BRIGG TOWN MARCH ON AT THE TOP OF THE TABLE WITH ANOTHER HANDSOME WIN

Brigg Town Cricket Club enjoyed a decisive 10-wicket home win over Keelby 2nds yesterday (Saturday, July 21), helped by an impressive bowling performance from their most senior player.
The visiting villagers, who are near the foot of the table, made a decent start to this Lincolnshire County Cricket League division four encounter against leaders Brigg at the Recreation Ground, off Wrawby Road.
Keelby reached the 50-run mark with only one wicket down, courtesy of experienced perfomers Bruce Roberts and Sanjay Chauhan.
But Phil Dewfall managed to trap Bruce leg before wicket after he had made 26, while Matthew Bell caught and bowled Sanjay for 30.
Brigg veteran John Danson (pictured above) joined the attack, as the fifth bowler, and proceeded to take four for 14 in quick time to polish off the innings.
Keelby, who had looked like posting a decent score, had to be content with 91 in 37.1 overs of their allocated 45.
After tea had been taken in the Community Room at the Rec, Brigg openers Danny Bradley (56 not out) and Andrew Dixon (31 not out) needed only 16 overs to secure victory, as Keelby's five-strong attack failed to make a breakthrough.
Result: Brigg Town (20 points) beat Keelby 2nds (0 points) by 10 wickets.
Umpires: John Preston and Nigel Goodburn.
Brigg are without a division four fixture this coming Saturday (July 28). They have now taken 165 points from nine games, while second-placed East Halton have 102 from eight.
There is then a big gap in points - third-in-the-table Horncastle having 79 and fourth-placed Haxey 2nds 77.
