The green light has been given for a national bank to install new machines in Brigg where two of its competitors have closed their branches.
While HSBC and NatWest have shut their Market Place premises, Lloyds is planning to install new equipment at its branch on Wrawby Street.
It has now been given listed building consent to make minor alterations to internal partition walls to facilitate additional internal ATMs and an internal IDM machine.
A report prepared by North Lincolnshire Council planners about Lloyd's application said: "The proposed alterations will remove the existing cashier positions and associated partition walls, to be replaced with the ATMs and an IDM. This will create a more functional building for customers and update the internal arrangement inside the building.
"The proposals are considered to be acceptable and will not result in any demonstrable harm being caused to this Grade II Listed Building."
Following the recent closure of its branch in Brigg town centre, NatWest has taken various steps to advise and assist its customers. See this link...
Barclays still has a branch in Brigg Market Place.
In case you were wondering, IDM stands for Immediate Deposit Machine; ATM stands for Automatic Teller Machine (for cash withdrawals and checking your balance).

ReplyDeleteOne of the main advantages banks still have is the human touch - at this rate it will be phone banking only...
