WARM TRIBUTE TO THE NELTHORPE ARMS PUB IN BRIGG BROADCAST ON UNIQUE RADIO STATION IN LONDON

A wonderfully warm tribute to Brigg pub the Nelthorpe Arms has appeared on a renowned radio station based in London.
The historic hostelry, on Bridge Street, served its last pints on May 27, 2018 with a farewell party at the end of the tenant's lease.
Ann Scanlon, whose parents Myles and Mary ran what many still call Scanlon's for decades until early this century, posted her own tribute with a radio show dedicated to "The Perfect Pub - Brigg's very own Nelthorpe Arms."
Ann has kindly sent Brigg Blog an online link so locals can listen to the show and reflect on the happy hours they spent in this pub with its unique atmosphere, much of which was generated by the genial mine hosts and their famous jukebox, with its range of tunes from their beloved Emerald Isle and further afield.
Ann says: "I have been doing some radio at a friend’s pub in London, and did my last show on The Perfect Pub (ours). I played Irish and Country from the Galaxy 200 jukebox, and I am amused to see Big Tom & Co in the Mixcloud indie rock and alternative charts today."
Ann explains that George Orwell called his perfect pub The Moon Under Water. Hers, of course, is The Nelthorpe Arms — better known and immortalised in song as Scanlons' Pub In Brigg.
Ann was joined in the studio by Paul Evans - trades unionist, writer and part-time musician - who  plays with The Pogue Traders tribute band.
Most of the tracks featured on the Brigg pub's Galaxy 200 jukebox and include some from The Dubliners and The Pogues.
Ann Scanlon presents A Love Letter to… The Perfect Pub (RIP Scanlons in Brigg). Here's the  Boogaloo Radio link so you can listen to the show...
After the opening song, be sure to listen to Ann discussing the Nelthorpe Arms.

Applications made by the owners for change of use and listed building consent to turn the Nelthorpe Arms into three dwellings are being considered by North Lincolnshire Council planners.
