TRENDY HAIR STYLE MAKES THE CUT IN BRIGG

Councillors in Brigg have knowledge in many areas, as a wide range of topics can arise.
But there was surely a first as councillors met in the Angel Suite Lounge for the latest meeting of Brigg Town Council's Planning & Environment Committee.
For Coun Chris Dyson shared his knowledge of the latest trends in barbering!
He had visited the new shop on Bigby Street and seen a sign outside advertising the availability of Skin Fade to customers.
This style was not for him, but he explained that it meant hair being shaved at the sides but only trimmed on the top.
Later, Brigg Blog checked out the Skin Fade style on the internet and one definition likened it to an old-fashioned short back and sides.
Having now seen pictures of the Skin Fade style, we have to say that the finished product is not the same as haircuts we remember receiving from Brigg barbers in the 1960s and 1970s.
"Not too much off!" boys would plead.
But within a few minutes the floor under your chair showed that the barber had exercised his right to ensure you got your money's worth when it came to short, back and sides.
For parents expected that their boys would return home looking like they'd had "a proper haircut."
Longer hair for males became trendy during the 1960s and 1970s, you may recall, which can't have helped barbers' trade.
However, there were also the so-called skinheads, who kept their hair very short indeed.
Following Coun Dyson's comments, Brigg Blog went down to take a picture of the sign he mentioned (see above).
This barber's opened some months ago in a town centre building that has seen a number of different uses over many decades.
