WELL-KNOWN FIRM LOOKING TO EXPAND IN BRIGG
A well-known company is looking to expand in Brigg after outgrowing its current premises.
Quainton and Kaines, based on the Ancholme Business Park, off Atherton Way, is seeking planning permission from North Lincolnshire Council for phased development.
This involves erecting a two-storey office building and portal frame buildings for manufacturing and indoor storage, and the erection of a covered shelter area (including demolition of existing office and warehouse block).
A statement submitted to the council with the application says QK Honeycomb Products Ltd, formerly Quinton & Kaines (Holdings) Ltd, is a subsidiary of Tex Holdings plc, which is publicly quoted on the London Stock Exchange.
With headquarters in Stowmarket, Suffolk, QK Honeycomb Products is described as the UK’s foremost manufacturer of furniture for touring and motor caravans, mostly produced at the factory in Brigg.
The submission says: "Our client QK Honeycomb Products has outgrown their current facilities situated on Enterprise Court, Brigg.
"Originally built by North Lincolnshire Council in the early 90s, it has served the company well but is no longer fit for purpose under the growth and demand seen by the business, in recent years."
The development scheme involves increasing the current internet floor space from 538 square metres to 3,150 sq m.
North Lincolnshire Council is now considering the application.
Whether it will create additional jobs in Brigg is not evident.
No employment details were submitted for this application, says the council.
