NEW 30 MPH SPEED LIMIT SUGGESTED FOR BRIGG APPROACH ROAD
A request has been made for a new speed limit on the outskirts of Brigg.
If accepted, this will reduce to 30mph the speed of vehicles heading for, and leaving, the town.
The suggested reduction comes from a councillor in eighbouring West Lindsey.
Councillor Lewis Strange is calling from a 30mph limit to run from east of Brigg Garden Centre to the town boundary on Bigby High Road.
His views follow a planning application seeking permission to build 13 new Pingley Vale homes off the A1084, near the Garden Centre.
Coun Strange - well-known in Brigg from his years with our men's hockey and Rotary clubs - wants Lincolnshire County Council highways to consider an extended speed restriction.
He is concerned about vehicles being driven at speed along a winding road which sees high volumes of traffic.
The 13 new homes are proposed for land within West Lindsey, whose Gainsborough-based district council will decide whether to grant permission.
This application is now under consideration.
Coun Strange represents the Kelsey Wold Ward on West Lindsey District Council.
It takes in Bigby, Grasby, North Kelsey, Somerby and South Kelsey.
The Pingley Vale homes are earmarked for Bigby parish.
Brigg Blog - and many other people who live in the town - have made trips on foot to the Garden Centre. You have to cross the A1084. So we fully support the suggested 30mph limit.
