BRIGG FARMERS' MARKET TO ENJOY MAY BANK HOLIDAY BOOST
Brigg Farmers' Market tomorrow (Saturday, May 26) will benefit from being held during the May Bank Holiday weekend, which should help increase the attendance.
Stallholders will start selling produce and goods to visiting shoppers from 9am and the event will continue until 3pm.
North Lincolnshire Council's award-winning market has been operating for 17 years and always draws large numbers of shoppers to the Market Place.
Many visitors also visit shops and eateries in the town, helping to boost the local economy.
The general Saturday market will be operating on stalls in the Market Place and along part of Wrawby Street on Saturday.

FROM SARAH HOWE, NORTH LINCOLNSHIRE COUNCIL
Love Your Local Market fortnight is back from 17 to 31 May 2018. We’re encouraging our residents to feel the love at North Lincolnshire’s markets in Ashby, Brigg and Scunthorpe.
The annual Love Your Local Market fortnight was started in 2012 to raise the profile of markets and help encourage young entrepreneurs to give market trading a go.
In North Lincolnshire, we want to showcase our brilliant markets in Ashby, Scunthorpe and Brigg.
Ashby Market takes place on Ashby Broadway every Thursday. Following an £800,000 investment last year, this popular outdoor market opened in a new location in the heart of Ashby High Street in November 2017.
Ashby Market offers everything from delicious fresh fish, fruits and vegetables to toys and treats for your pet.
Brigg is a historic market town, with markets still taking place every Thursday and Saturday on Market Place in the town.
On the fourth Saturday of each month, Brigg Farmers’ Market takes over the towns with stalls around Market Place and along Wrawby Street. This award-winning market attracts thousands of visitors to the town with stalls offering fresh produce from across Lincolnshire as well as quality plants, antiques and handmade crafts and gifts.
The next Brigg Farmers’ Market will take place on Saturday 26 May 2018.
At the bottom of the High Street, near Church Square, are Scunthorpe Market’s Old Hall and Food Hall. The Food Hall is open from Monday to Saturday, offering fresh fruit and veg, meat and fish, freshly baked goods, sweets, cakes and much more.
Scunthorpe Market’s Old Hall is open every Friday and Saturday with stalls selling everything from men’s and women’s clothing and accessories, to books and sport equipment.
Cllr Rob Waltham (Brigg & Wolds), Leader of North Lincolnshire Council, gave his support to Love Your Local Market fortnight, saying: If you haven’t visited your local market recently, now is the perfect time to rediscover what they have to offer.
“As a council, we’re committed to helping our markets thrive. The relocation of Ashby Market last year has helped bring it into a busy, central shopping area and boosted visitor numbers and trade.
“And in Scunthorpe, our recently announced plans for a new indoor market in the former BHS building is a major investment that will help secure Scunthorpe Market’s future for generations to come.
“If you’re inspired to give market trading a go yourself, why not get in touch with us and take your first steps towards a rewarding new career.”
