TIME FOR BRIGG PUB TO HOST ANNIVERSARY CELEBRATIONS

A Brigg pub has every reason to hold celebrations this month, having reopened  its doors to customers eight years ago after being closed for some time.
Brigg Blog remembers it well as we were affording temporary VIP status and invited along by the new ownership to cut the tape and declare the Dying Gladiator, on Bigby Street, well and truly reopen.

This may well have been because we showed an interest in the premises in the weeks leading up to the relaunch.
Brigg Blog reported at the time that it was a very enjoyable and well-attended event.
"Much refurbishment has taken place under the direction of Robert Borrill, but the character of the historic Bigby Street hostelry has been retained, plus a few extras like Gladiator-themed pictures on the walls," we noted.
"We gather local tradesmen have been involved in much of the work, which is to be applauded."

Among those who attended the re-launch was Julie Frankish, pictured above - nearest the camera - who has since become landlady at the Whistle & Flute in Barnetby.
Our Dying Gladiator is the only pub in Britain to carry this name.
As you may have guessed, we've been back many times of the past eight years!

The Dying Gladiator boarded up  prior to refurbishment and subsequent reopening in March 2008.
