SNOW CAUSES VERY RARE CANCELLATION OF BRIGG MARKET
North Lincolnshire Council says that ️due to the weather conditions, it has had to cancel Brigg and Ashby Markets scheduled for today (Thursday 1 March 2018)
The local authority says: "We're sorry for this inconvenience. Traders have been informed."
Given the arctic weather and snow, Brigg Blog thinks few shoppers will be surprised to hear this.
But it is very rare for Brigg market to be called off due to heavy snow.
Brigg was granted its royal market charter early in the 13th century.
Yes, correct Nige.....but King John's pipe rolls (essentially records of tax income) indicates that there was a market operating at the bridge of Glanford since, at least, 1185ish...at least a generation before KJ granted it a charter...
ReplyDeleteThe last time when the stalls weren't put out owing to weather....Barry still sold his fruit and veg.....will he be there tomorrow?
