RARE BRIGG COLOUR PICTURES FROM 1977

Here's a colourful trip down memory lane for older Brigg Blog followers and also those who worked at the Sugar Factory decades ago.
These pictures were kindly forwarded to us by Paul Johnson, who takes a keen interest in local railways.
They show Brigg station before demolition of the booking office and station master's house and also the old cast iron footbridge, removed not so long ago and taken to a heritage line for restoration.
Also featured is the signalbox and level crossing, with Martin's haulage business just visible on the left - now the site of Thomas Bell's Country Store; and Kirton Lime Sidings signalbox - a very tall construction so the signalman could see over the bridge and down the line.
Paul has also emailed Brigg Blog a selection of 1977 pictures found by Mr Barrett, from Barnetby - photographer unknown.
They show the railway station with the portico entrance still in place (pictured above) and the tiny Brigg Siding signalbox near the Sugar Factory, which had rail connections and its own shunting engine.
