BRIGG STATION CRIMES REVEALED
The total number of crimes recorded at Brigg railway station by British Transport Police has been revealed.
The figures issued through www.police.uk that Brigg Blog brings you each month, outlining crimes reported across the town, only refer to those incidents dealt with by Humberside Police.
Some others relating to our railway station are handled by British Transport Police (BTP), the national force.
So we are indebted to The Friends of the Brigg Line for making a Freedom of Information request to obtain the BTP total.
During 2017 there were 12 crimes investigated by British Transport Police.
Barnetby had only four, even though it is much larger and busier and receives trains seven days a week, while Brigg has a Saturday-only passenger service.
Scunthorpe railway station saw 25 crimes reported to British Transport Police during 2017.
That was the highest number in North Lincolnshire, but this is the district's most-used station.
We gather from the Friends of the Brigg Line that there were 23 crimes at, or near, Brigg station during 2017. So with British Transport Police logging 12, the other 11 must have been recorded by the Humberside force.
North Lincolnshire Council owns land near the station.
ADVANCE NOTICE TO TRAIN TRAVELLERS FROM BRIGG
On Saturday, March 17 there will be no Brigg line trains due to engineering work between Woodhouse and Worksop. A bus service will substitute, picking up at Brigg railway station. Our friend at The Friends is looking to obtain the timetable so it can be publicised to assist the public.
