TRIBUTES PAID TO WELL-KNOWN BRIGG AREA FOOTBALL LEGEND

Brigg Blog was sorry to learn of the death of a former footballer and club official who was very well-known in our area.
Current players  and their opponents observed a minute's silence before the start of both Barnetby United's matches on Saturday in memory of Keith 'Wooly' Curtis, pictured above, who was a fine goalkeeper in his playing days.
Black armbands were also worn by Barnetby players, as a mark of respect.
Barnetby spokesman Lee Fielden said: "Keith was a former player, committee member and chairman. And though it is safe to say that he was outspoken at times, had the club's best interest at heart."
Barnetby FC made reference to Keith's passing on its Facebook page, resulting in many tributes, several describing him as a legend.
Our thanks go to Lee for the following report and pictures from Saturday's first team fixture in which he says Barnetby were well worth a point...

Steve Glentworth’s sixth goal of the season - eight  minutes from time - saw bottom-placed Barnetby clinch their first point of the season as they held second-placed College Wanderers 1-1 at Silver Street.
It had been 281 days since Barnetby had last claimed a point, on April Fools' Day of all days, also against Saturday’s opponents.
An impeccable minute's silence was observed by a good crowd for the passing of a Keith Curtis before kick off and a tight first half saw the sides go into half-time level at 0-0.
Barnetby started the second half much the better side but fell behind on the hour when a College free kick was flicked on by former Bottesford Town Reserves player Harry Burnett-Haynes with the ball eluding all and sundry and nestling in the bottom corner.
Barnetby heads didn’t drop, though, and they continued to create chances with Will Dawson and Steve Glentworth going close.
With eight minutes remaining, neat work from Fussey found Glentworth who unleashed a right-foot drive from 25 yards  for the equaliser.

Moments later, Kieran Hunsley brought the ball down in the box and fired at goal only to be denied by last-ditch defending.

Barnetby are in their traditional black and white strip.
