NEW MENU AND DRINKS AT BRIGG PUB & RESTAURANT AS PART OF 'REVOLUTION'


An historic Brigg hostelry in the town centre is undergoing what it is calling a revolution - and pledges that exciting times are ahead.
This year is going to be a good one, says the Lord Nelson Hotel, in the Market Place.
Refurbishment is coming to the premises which  offer food, drink and accommodation.
It is flagging up a new drinks selection and a brand new menu.
New and existing customers are also promised a comfy and cosy atmosphere,  and value for money.
"Try us soon," the Nelson says. "You'll not be disappointed.
"Are you ready to join the revolution?"
Father and son, Richard and Jordan Smith, recently took charge at the Lord Nelson, which is operated by the Old Mill Brewery, Snaith.
Talking of revolutions, there's something of an historic link here.
Following the French Revolutionary Wars,  Admiral Lord Nelson - after whom the Brigg hostelry is named - famously led the  Royal Navy to victory at the Battle of Trafalgar in 1805 against the warships of France and Spain, employing daring tactics.
So how about some patriotic guest ales like Lord Nelson Pale, Victory and Old Ship at our Brigg 'local'?
Not that there's anything wrong with a pint of Old Mill Best that's currently on tap. It's a very good and tasty pint, and reasonably priced.
They started building the Buttercross just a dozen years after Nelson's victory.
Perhaps the town fathers back then should have called our Market Place, as a tribute,  Trafalgar Square.
London didn't name its famous street until circa 1837.
