URGENT APPEAL FOR VOLUNTEER DOG WALKERS IN THE BRIGG AREA TO HELP ELDERLY
FROM TRESSA HERIOTT, THE CINNAMON TRUST
I hope that you might be able to help and if not perhaps you would be so kind as to pass this along to anybody you think might be able to help spread the word .
The Cinnamon Trust is the national charity supporting elderly and terminally ill people and their pets. We seek to keep owner and pet together for as long as possible with the help of a national network of volunteers who assist when day to day pet care poses a problem.
We are desperately trying to find some dog walking volunteer support in particular for an elderly resident and their 2 beloved dogs (a gorgeous Chihuahua and a fun-loving poodle) who live in the Brigg DN20 postcode area.
However, we often have requests from elderly or chronically ill residents from in and around the North Lincolnshire area who are looking for our help to find like-minded dog lovers to take their beloved pets out for much needed walks and so enable them to keep them with them for as long as possible.
We wondered whether you have a community section on your blog or perhaps a volunteer section where you would be able to help us to publicise our urgent need for volunteers in your area. I have attached a small example press release and poster to this email in the hope that you will be able to help us.
Our charities aim is to relieve elderly and ill owners of any worry concerning the welfare of their pets both during and after their own lifetime making us unique amongst charities.
All of our volunteers help in the ways that are most appropriate to them.
Teams of our volunteer walkers take it in turn to visit housebound owners, to take dogs for daily walks, volunteers can also foster pets as one of their family when owners face a spell in hospital, they take pets to the vet, clean the budgie's cage out. We take any problem posed in day to day care of pets.
The volunteers can gain access to our volunteer page on our website or www.cinnamon.org.uk or by emailing us at volunteer@cinnamon.org.uk
Any help that you are able to offer will be very gratefully accepted.
I would be really grateful if you would let me know if you think that you might be able to help us out as we have been desperately searching for urgent dog walking support for a particular resident in your locality.
What happens if illness, injury or just the fact that we all get older eventually affects our ability to look after our four legged companions?
A large number of elderly or ill pet owners become very worried about their ability to care for their pets, feeling that their only option is to rehome them, this is where our national network of dedicated volunteers step in to offer support enabling them to stay together.
We’ll walk the dog for a housebound owner, we’ll foster pets when owners need hospital care, we’ll fetch the cat food, even clean out the bird cage or litter trays.
If you would like a chat about volunteering or to request a registration form please call during office hours 01736 758707 or email us at appeals@cinnamon.org.uk or check out our website for more details www.cinnamon.org.uk
