EVERY LITTLE HELPS, BRIGG TESCO
It's often the little things that matter to people in Brigg.
We were in Cary Lane around 5pm recently and noted a build-up of traffic near the lights connecting it to the A18 along Barnard Avenue.
This resulted from a large lorry that had arrived and parked up on Cary Lane, awaiting the go-ahead to draw into the store's loading bay.
It meant that approaching vehicles, including a bus we (and others) were waiting to board, could not pass in either direction.
Couldn't things be arranged so that delivery trucks do not arrive at the busiest periods on Cary Lane?
We are thinking of 8.30am to 9.30am and 4.45pm to 5.30pm.
We know that some stores, certainly in Scunthorpe, have times defined when deliveries can and cannot take place.
Brigg Blog is not suggesting that the long-established Tesco store in Brigg should be restricted when it comes to receiving supplies to stock the shelves, certainly during this busy period in the lead up to Christmas.
But could a polite request be made to delivery companies that they do their best to avoid parking up on Cary Lane at key times of the day?
Every little helps when it comes to keeping traffic flowing on the A18 and its connecting roads in Brigg.
Cary Lane also suffers from uncaring drivers who insist on parking in the bus lane for a few minutes while they visit the shops.
This has been an issue for years and is not easy to 'police' given the resources available.
But it's disappointing to see motorists using the bus lane when there's a large public car park available only a few yards away off Old Courts Road, with free short stay parking on offer.
