49 PICTURES TAKEN AT THE BRIGG CHRISTMAS LIGHTS 2017 SWITCH ON & FESTIVE FAIR BY KEN HARRISON: CAN YOU SPOT YOURSELF?
Ken Harrison, of Brigg Matters Magazine, was out and about with his camera taking pictures at the Brigg Christmas Lights switch on which took place on Friday, December 1 (yesterday).
Ken toured stalls on Brigg District Lions' fair, and visited others in adjoining town centre venues.
He also popped into some of the businesses which stayed open late so people could do a spot of Christmas shopping and called at the Heritage Centre.
They ranged from the Red Cross charity shop to Brians DIY.
People he photographed includes members of the Brigg Angels Women's Institute, Curate the Rev Trudy Hobson, Brigg Lions, Town Mayor Coun Sharon Riggall, North Lincolnshire Mayor Coun Peter Clark and Brigg Town Clerk Dinah Lilley. Plus dozens of members of the public.
Our thanks go to Ken for this fine selection of images capturing the mood of an enjoyable and traditional event attended by a couple of thousand people from Brigg and district.
It was Brigg's best-attended spectator event of 2017.
People have taken to new media today to thank the organisers for their hard work in making this all possible.
Brigg Town Council provided the lights and the stage, from which seasonal entertainment of various kinds was provided for the benefit of passers by.
Just a thought for 2018: Following on from one of the pictures he took, Ken wonders whether the litter bin provision should be extended.
The latest issue of Brigg Matters Magazine is now available. It's free. A copy may be delivered to your door; if not, pick one up at the Tourist Information Centre in the Buttercross or at other outlets.
The front cover image, provided by Ken Harrison, is suitably festive and shows Santa in his sleigh, visiting Brigg on Christmas Day 2016.

Re..Front cover of Brigg Matters...
ReplyDeleteFather Christmas phoned me to say he was almost finished in Brigg.
As arranged, I rushed out to the Market Place in the early hours to catch FC doing a fly-past above the Buttercross.
The photo does prove the FC really exists and is not a figment of deliberate imagination, a unfortunate syndrome affecting many adults.
As you indicate, BM is presently being distributed....although, I did distribute the Winter Issue to town centre premises last weekend...On the bigger scale, it was only possible to circulate Rounds to our Primary Distributors, who then distribute individual quotas to our very important large team of house-to-house deliverers.
This issue, is the biggest circulation ever with 500+ copies being distributed in Wrawby....this gives us a 5000 circulation.
Brigg Matters is the quarterly magazine for Brigg and district...compiled, organised and distributed by a team of volunteers.
