40 COMMENTS ABOUT BRIGG AREA AUCTION
A planning application that has generated considerable public interest within the Brigg area has been refused permission by North Lincolnshire Council.
Forty people lodged comments with local authority planners about the application to retain the change of use of a building as an auction room at The Grainstore, on Marsh Lane, Barnetby.
North Lincolnshire Council has given "insufficient highways infrastructure" in that part of the village and concerns about parking and the free flow of traffic as reasons for refusing the application, submitted by Lincs Auctions, of South Kelsey.
In the application, auctions were mentioned as taking place only on Mondays from 10am to 2pm, with the Auction House open additionally for 5 days a week to take in entries and deal with collection/payment for sold goods; Tuesday, Wednesday, Friday, Saturday and Sunday 10.00am to 4.00pm.
"Live animals will not be sold at the Auction," it was stressed.
Barnetby Parish Council told planners that Marsh Lane was not a road that could "handle the volumes of traffic" and that the Parish Council supported "various other concerns" raised by a number of villagers.
Any firm, or individual, that has a planning application turned down has the right to lodge an appeal with the Government. An inspector then considers the issue and makes a ruling.
