BRIGG FOOTBALLERS OPEN THEIR SEASON WITH BIG WIN


A Brigg football team had good reason to celebrate last night after winning the opening game of the season in the EC Surfacing Ltd Scunthorpe & District Football League.
Briggensians, who play in division two, triumphed 6-2 on their visit to Scunthorpe side Crosby Colts.
On the mark were Paul Neal, Jack Lucas, Sol Hari, Phil Cole and Phil Kenyon, with an own goal completing the scoring.
In the same section, Barnetby United Reserves won 5-1 when hosting Epworth Town Reserves at Silver Street.
Tom Watson hit a hat-trick and there were further goals from Ryan Leggett and Connor Goulsbra.
However, Barnetby's first teamers were beaten 7-0 at Epworth Colts in division one.
Barnetby have a chance to notch their first win of the 2017-2018 season this Saturday (September 16) when they host divison two's bottom side, Santon, in the first round of the  EC Surfacing Ltd Challenge Cup at Silver Street (K.O. 2-30pm).
In division two on the 16th, Barnetby United Reserves visit Keadby WMC, while  Briggensians journey to Scotter United Reserves.
Both league games start at 3pm.
