SCHOOL HOLIDAY ACTIVITIES IN BRIGG - WHAT TO ENJOY

If your child is looking for action packed fun during the school holidays, the North Lincolnshire Energize day camps and activities programme can help. It is designed to offer fun sporting and cultural activities for children aged eight to 14 years.
■ Energize Camp Day timetable
Monday – Baysgarth Leisure Centre (Multi-sport). Dates: 31 July and 7, 14, and 21 August.
Tuesday – The Pods (Multi-sport). Dates: 1, 8, 15, 22, and 29 August.
Wednesday – Epworth Leisure Centre (Multi-sport) Dates: 26 July, 2, 9, 16, 23, and 30 August.
Thursday – BRIGG RECREATION GROUND (Football Camp). Dates: 27 July, 3, 10, 17, 24, and 31 August.
Friday – Normanby Hall (Multi-sport and Outdoor Adventure). Dates: 28 July, 4, 11, 18, and 25 August, and 1 September
Multi-sport activities include; dodgeball, cricket, football, rounders, street golf and much more. The outdoor adventure includes; shelter building, fire making, gardening and much more.
It costs £20 per child for the Energize day camp. Places can be secured by booking in advance. For more information or to book call 01724 297270 (8.30am to 4pm) or you can email your contact details and requirements to community.recreation@northlincs.gov.uk
A parental consent form is also required in advance.
In addition to the day camps, Energize is also offering 90 minute drama and dance activities, costing £4.50, in leisure centres:
Monday – The Pods - Drama - 12 to 1.30pm on 31 July and 21 August Dance - 12 to 1.30pm on 7 and 14 August. Call 01724 291900 to book onto the activities.
Tuesday – ANCHOLME LEISURE CENTRE, SCAWBY ROAD, NEAR BRIGG - Dates: 1, 8, 15, 22, and 29 August. Drama 12.30 to 2pm and Dance 2.15 to 3.45pm. Call 01652 652031 to book onto the activities.
Wednesday – Baysgarth Leisure Centre - Dates: 2, 9, 16, 23, and 30 August. Dance 1 to 2.30pm and Drama 2.45 to 4.15pm. Call 01652 632511 to book onto the activities.
These fun packed sessions are perfect for young people who love to be creative with a different style or theme each week. Booking is required to secure each place. Young people visiting the leisure centres for these sessions can make use of other facilities by swimming for free as part of Summer Daze (see the swimming programme for full details).
Cllr David Rose, Cabinet Member for Children, Families and Learning, said: “We like to make sure there are plenty of things to do during school holidays and I am sure the activity programme will prove very popular. For those who prefer more relaxed pastimes, our libraries offer a range of free and cheap activities throughout the school holidays, including the always popular Summer Reading Challenge.”

......times have changed over the years.....In my day, we took ourselves off on camping trips, went potholing, played Pontoon, Split the Kipper, rock climbing, daring to have a pint in a pub - 15 going on 18!- some of it was 'misspent', but most of it was part of growing up without all the legal cafuffle we have today.
