BIG RISE IN RAIL PASSENGERS USING THE ICONIC BRIGG LINE
Twenty-five additional railway passengers used the iconic Brigg Line to come to the town yesterday, July 15, for a special reason.
They were enjoying an annual summer event and we 'spotted' the train supporters about 1.30pm.
They had just left the Clothes Hedge public footpath and were heading as a group down St Helen's Road, enjoying their Railway Walk linked to the Saturdays-only train service on part of the 1840s-era mainline from Manchester to Grimsby via Sheffield and North Notts.
Lincolnshire Ramblers said the six-mile linear walk followed public footpaths around Barnetby, then went across the fields to Wrawby windmill and on to Brigg.
The walkrrs spent the afternoon in our town before going to the station to catch the train home.
So some of our businesses picked up additional trade.
■ We hope our 25 count is correct; we did it as we passed by the group.
