WELCOME BOOST FOR BRIGG TOWN FOOTBALL CLUB FROM WORLD FAMOUS RESTAURANT CHAIN & WE'RE LOVING IT!
Congratulations are due to Brigg Town Football Club - one of the oldest in THE WORLD, having been running since the 1860s, and having twice won the national FA Vase knockout competition.
A friend connected with the Zebras today has been in touch to say: "Evening, Nigel, a bit of good news from Brigg Town Football Club for the blog.
"For the fourth year running we at the club have retained our charter standard status, in line and in keeping with the Football Association's protocol, ensuring that all our junior teams, up to under 18, have qualified coaches, welfare officer and up to date safeguarding qualifications in place.
"Big thanks are in order to David Raines and our new chairman Andrew Kikby.
"This entitles one of our junior teams to a full set of Nike kit, provided and paid for by McDonald's."
Quite a cash-saving there!
That update comes from Martin North, charter standard co-ordinator - pictured above.
A long-standing town resident who attended Brigg Grammar School, Martin was a notable player with Brigg Amateurs, and others, and later became a respected referee.
He is a former landlord of the Ancholme and Yarborough Hunt, ex-steward of Brigg Servicemen's Club, and once ran Jollies at Wrawby - all with the support of wife Linda, we hasten to add.
A former steelworker, he later switched careers and went into education.
He has been working hard behind the scenes at The Hawthorns for many years.
Martin would be the first to point out that others do likewise but Brigg Blog thinks he merits a mention in despatches.
