The availability of a reasonably priced train ride to Brigg on Saturdays is being promoted in the Worksop and Retford areas.
Rail line campaigner Paul Johnson is working with Brigg Town Business Partnership.
Paul told the Partnership's AGM in the Buttercross that people in North Notts were "a big target" because of the competitively priced return fares available to take them to and from Brigg.
Paul said that once word got round, more people would make such trips.
"North Notts is the key," he stressed.
Passenger trains run on Saturdays between Sheffield and Cleethorpes, picking up passengers in North Notts.
There are three trains in each direction.
Rail campaigners are trying to persuade train operators to expand the service and also add other days of the week.
Brigg station was once on the mainline between Manchester and Cleethorpes but services were gradually cut back until, in the 1990s, trains were reduced to Saturdays only.
You used to be able to get from Brigg to London and back in a day, changing at Retford, which remains an important station on the renowned east coast mainline.
Will we ever see this reinstated?
An early morning train, and one in the evening, would even mean that people could commute from Brigg to work in the capital.
