BRIGG FOLK TO ENJOY SUPER SUNDAY AT THE RACES

Anticipation is growing ahead of the final ‘Super Sunday’ horseracing fixture of the spring at Market Rasen Racecourse.
Entries have now been made for the seven races this weekend and there is an array of off-track attractions being laid on for families.
Prize-money extends £80,000 and well over 100 horses are engaged in the races.
As usual accompanied under 18s admitted free of charge, and young and old alike will be able to go behind the scenes, test their jockey skills on a mechanical racehorse and take trips to the start of races.
It had been hoped that players from Lincoln City Football Club would also be at the racecourse but, unfortunately, they will not be able to make it. The racecourse hopes they can attend a fixture later in the summer.
Lined up for Sunday are: a parade of former racehorses, including loveable character Mad Moose, plus a talk from leading re-trainer Jayne Gollings; a farrier display; the famous BIG Jigsaw Challenge; a fence and hurdle display; and the chance to ‘pat the pony’ – that’s Lincolnshire-based appaloosa horse Gerald.
Nadia Powell, General Manager, Market Rasen Racecourse, said: “We’re delighted to be staging a Super Sunday fixture designed not only for regular visitors but also for families who would like to find out what a day at the races is all about. As well as the excitement of the horse races, we are laying on a host of attractions for all the family to enjoy. Especially popular will be the behind the scenes tours, the equicisor mechanical horse and the appearance by our appaloosa horse Gerald.”
All three enclosures at the racecourse – County, Tattersalls and Lawn – will be open, offering visitors a choice of where to watch the races and enjoy refreshments. Adult tickets start at £7.20 when bought in advance.
Gates will open at 11.50am, with the first race at 1.50pm and the finale at 5pm.

At Super Sunday fixtures, children under 12 years receive a free two-course meal in the Brocklesby Suite restaurant with adult reservations booked in advance.
Hospitality packages are also available from £60 per person to include a private suite, hostess, County Enclosure admission, race-day programmes and a two-course Sunday lunch.
