INDUSTRIAL ACTION EXPECTED TO HIT BRIGG TRAIN SERVICES

No passenger trains are expected to call at Brigg railway station this coming Saturday, April 8.
Nor are any replacement buses planned to operate instead of the diesel units.
The cancellation of the three trains each way along the Brigg Line - between Sheffield and Cleethorpes - is due to industrial action planned by the RMT union.
So unless a settlement is agreed, Brigg folk should NOT make for the railway station this Saturday.
Paul Johnson comments on the absence of transport in the latest post on his Brigg Line Blog.
He also reveals how the group contacted the Retford Branch of the Doncaster Rovers FC Supporters' Club about taking a direct  train to watch their side play at Grimsby Town last Saturday (April 1).
Paul says 15+ fans used the 0844 departure from Retford Low Level, via Brigg, to travel to Cleethorpes station.
This was more welcome traffic for the Brigg Line.

The likely lack of trains on Saturday means the prospect of more trade for local taxi firms, bus companies and the CallConnect dial-a-ride service.

Our picture shows passengers boarding a Saturday train at Brigg station. However, this weekend the platforms are likely to be empty.
