BRIGG FOOTBALLERS PLAY LAST MATCH OF THE SEASON WHILE BARNETBY HIT THE GOAL TRAIL

Brigg-based football team Briggensians FC ended the 2016/2017 season in division three of the TSW Printers Scunthorpe & District Football League yesterday (Saturday, April 8).
Sadly, the campaign did not finish on a winning note as they lost 4-2 at home to AFC Queensway at Sir John Nelthorpe School.
Ross Belton and Sol Hari were on the mark for the home team, with Simon Igoe, Mark McCrea, Zack Kelly and Lee Johnson netting for Queensway.
However, Barnetby United Reserves thrashed bottom side Santon 11-0 at Silver Street.
On the mark were Liam Dawson (4), Will Dawson (3), Ross Hempstock (2), Will Hartley and our old Brigg Town cricketing colleague Lee Fielden.
Barnetby Reserves will play their final game on Wednesday, April 19 - a home fixture with Shape Changers at the railway village's Silver Street ground (6-30pm KO).
Having looked candidates for promotion for some months, Briggensians' form rather tailed off in the latter stages of the campaign and they have finished fifth.
Briggensians won seven, drew three and lost six of their 16 league matches, scoring 40 goals and conceding 47.
Shape Changers are already champions of division three, with the second promotion spot still to be decided between AFC Blades and AFC Queensway.
Barnetby Reserves will end the season in fourth place, regardless of the result in their final fixture.
Barnetby's first-teamers were without a division one game yesterday and still have one match to go to complete their programme.
They are destined to finish a creditable third in the top flight behind champions Brumby and runners-up Crowle Town Colts.
