SPRING SUNSHINE DRAWING SHOPPERS TO BRIGG MARKETS

Today's sunny and warm spring weather is helping to draw a big crowd of shoppers to the many stalls on the Saturday general market and the March 2017 Brigg Farmers' Market today (March 25).
Stall-holders are doing a brisk trade, and many visitors to the town centre are also calling at shops, eateries and other business premises.
As we predicted, it's turning into the biggest commercial pay day of the month.
A tombola stall on Wrawby Street, near the entrance to St John's Church, is raising funds for Town Mayor Coun Ann Eardley's appeal fund to help worthy causes.

Brigg Farmers' Market - organised by North Lincolnshire Council - is now into its 16th year.  The local authority is also responsible for the general market which can trace its roots back to the 13th century, when a royal charter was granted - a long, long time before any semblance of what we now call local government came on the scene.
As we post this soon after noon, there's still time to catch both markets, which are not due to wind down until about 3pm.

And just a word of praise for what we call the shoppers' bus - pictured below, having picked up passengers on Yarborough Road, Brigg, late this morning to ferry them to and from the town centre. This service - operated by Hornsby's - is a lifeline for many folk who would otherwise find the walk into Brigg town centre either difficult or impossible.
