BRIGG GROUP RAISES £1K+ FOR CHARITY

Brigg Pancreatic Cancer Group fundraisers raised a further £326.08 on Saturday to add to the £755 collected on the day of the recent farmers' market in the town centre.
The latest boost came at an Awareness Day held at The Foundry in Scunthorpe.
Spokesman Andrew Markham told Brigg Blog: that the Mayor of North Lincolnshire (Coun Trevor Foster) stayed for more than half-an-hour and gave good support, as did Maggie Watts, a renowned campaigner for this cause.
Andrew, Zoe Hall and Lesley Whitehand, of the Brigg Pancreatic Cancer Group, will be among those receiving the Joseph J. Magrath O.B.E. Award for Public Voluntary Service  during the Brigg Town Mayor's Civic Charity Dinner in the Angel Suite this Saturday (March 18).
Andrew, Zoe and Lesley are being honoured "for their regular activities in promoting awareness of, and raising funds for, this virulent form of cancer."
Also sharing the award will be: 

• Chris Darlington – for his continued support for the Brigg Community over many years.
• Karen Deeley - for her efforts in raising the profile of the Women’s Institute. 
• Peter Jacklin - for being a volunteer driver and Transport Manager with Brigg & District Gateway Club for almost 40 years.

Joseph J Magrath was the long-serving Clerk to Brigg Urban District Council and later Brigg Town Council.
