North Lincolnshire Council will set its figure during a meeting in Scunthorpe next Thursday (February 16).
This will be the first charge-setting session during the leadership of Brigg's Coun Rob Waltham, who recently succeeded Baroness Redfern as head of the unitary authority.
Council tax bills also include amounts required by the emergency services, while the smallest payment of all goes parish and town councils.
Brigg Town Council set its own budget at the latest meeting in the Angel Suite. It is seeking a small rise to fund what it does for the community.
North Lincolnshire Council is what they call a precepting authority - collecting council tax on behalf of itself, parishes and the emergency services.
Brigg Town Council's budget-setting session was an interesting one, with Coun Waltham - in his role as a town councillor - central to the discussions.
He went through the projected spending laid out in a spreadsheet before him and proposed some amendments here and there.
These were noted by the Town Clerk and Deputy Town Clerk, who were seated behind a laptop computer displaying the proposed budget .
Several other councillors made contributions to the discussion before things were finally agreed by way of a vote.
The precept requirement of Brigg Town Council will be £120,000 for the new financial year, starting in April.
For comparison of charges on a Band D property, the figures are as follows:
2016/17 - £65.14 for the entire year
2017/18 - £67.84
So a rise of £2.70p for Band D but the increase will be less for households in Band A, Band B and Band C.
Although many of us go into panic mode when faced with complicated spreadsheets, Coun Waltham told colleagues that he likes nothing better!
A full list of what households in the various bands must pay - including those of us in Brigg and the surrounding district - will be issued after next Thursday's North Lincolnshire Council meeting.
The important information will be publicised through the press and also notified by post to all charge-payers by North Lincolnshire Council.
