Sessions of the entire council are currently held in the main Angel Suite function room - the one with the chandeliers.
But the latest meeting of the Planning & Environment Committee was changed to the smaller Lounge on the floor below - reached by a staircase or the lift.
When the session ended, councillors present were asked, informally, whether they might consider having all meetings in the Lounge.
We expect any feedback to be considered. And if there's sufficient interest in a switch, the matter may appear on a future Council meeting agenda.
The main drawback to using the main function room is poor accoustics. It can be difficult to hear what's being said, especially if the speaker is quietly spoken.
In addition, the public gallery is some distance from the seats used by councillors and even further from the "top table" occupied by the Town Mayor and Deputy and the Town Clerk and her Deputy. However, the Lounge is much smaller.
Our picture shows a Brigg Town Council meeting early last year in the main Angel Suite.
The lounge is too small..imagine me wanting to demonstrate, I wouldn't get my placard thro' the door.
ReplyDeleteOne of the main culprits for sound disturbance in the AS is the constant rattle from the fan-assisted heaters.
There is a distinct and continuous hum....resolved when the heaters are switch off.
My suggestion is to wear extra clothing and talk less!
.....another suggestion is that the bearings on the heater fans are worn and need a bit of copper grease lubrication.
